"Post" Baby Shower Brunch

Hello there!

Today we had the pleasure to finally welcome two new babies in our community. Daniel, Riku's son and Saket, Preethi's son.

It was with pleasure that we all gathered for a brunch at Preethi's house for a "post" baby shower. We had catered for delicious Indian food and indulged in Eclair and chocolate for dessert with real authentic Chai courtesy of the host, Preethi.

At the end of the brunch, both mothers were presented with gifts that will serve them and the babies.
We also took the occasion to welcome new comers to our community: Armelle, Priyanka and Sheilla.

Pre- Summer Lunch

On June 6th 2012, SSA members met at Cascade Cafe in ANA Interncontinental hotel for lunch. As Summer holidays are approaching, we thought it would be a great way to part before we all head for vacations. Anita, Chafia, Lydia, Olga, Junko, Stephanie and myself (Michelle) all braced the bad weather (Typhoon Number 3) to attend the lunch.

Cascade offered a buffet with delicious food from salads to desserts. We all indulged in the lovely food and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately we were only allowed to stay for an hour and a half. Yet we made the best out of it.

I am wishing everyone nice Summer holidays back at home or in Japan. And I am expecting everyone back in September for more fun "adventures" (I will consider all your suggestions) .

Safe food, healty family workshop

Today we finally had our Food and safety workshop with Wanavi people. Nine people participated.
We were all very eager to attend as we were having many concerns about food safety in Japan since the explosion of the nuclear plant in Fukushima.

The workshop was divided in two sessions. The first session was an overall explanation of what the current situation in Japan was. Wanavi explained to us the contaminated areas, the radiation levels and what the government was doing to help (in terms of food testing and such). We were also given explanations about the easily contaminated food and non easily contaminated food.

The second session focused on what we could do to protect ourselves. We were told about places that were safe enough to shop. Moreover we were given tips on how to locate food from contaminated areas or how to ask for the origins of the food.

Overall, it was a very interesting worshop. It was unfortunate that we did not have enough time to go into details about how to shop safely in Japan. Our group felt that it was the area where they wanted more detailed information.

We would like to thank Wanavi for being so helpful and cooperative.

And thank you to Stephanie for opening her house and driving us around. And last but not least, thank you to Anita for driving us as well.
